A modern family home self-build in York
Beth and her husband Rich found the perfect plot of land and wanted to build their dream family home. Rich’s career as a property developer meant they could manage the build themselves and he completed most of the project himself. They demolished the unlivable bungalow and set a strict timeframe of completing the project in 12 months.
Beth’s style inspiration was a modern take on a farmhouse inspired look. Beth and Rich knew they wanted as much light as possible in the main family room so a rooflight was always going to be included. There was a slight setback when their roofer supplied a roof lantern they hated. This led Rich to quickly research companies online and he found the Roof Maker website. They knew that they wanted the Slimline® and found the website and Instagram images so helpful in choosing the final specification.
Beth commented “When we came across the Roof Maker Slimline, it was the perfect fit. Straight away I knew it would look amazing with everything else in the room.” The couple have created an indoor-outdoor feel for the room, and the room has exceeded their expectations and feels airy, light and modern. It is a gorgeous space for the family of four to live, eat, entertain, and relax. They are extremely happy with how much light the Slimline® roof lantern lets in. The angled glass maximises the natural light and makes everything so much brighter.
A Victorian terrace renovation in Bristol
Clare and Charlie had their hands full with planning their wedding and renovating their home. After finding a Victorian terrace on a road they love in Bristol they knew they needed to live there. The main renovation included a side extension return to create a beautiful open kitchen diner that was suitable for entertaining and general everyday life. After considering a glass roof their architect sent them the details for the Roof Maker Luxlite® and they knew they had found the perfect rooflight due to the frameless view and thermal efficiency.
Choosing three large Luxlite® pitched rooflights that maximised the natural light to create a bright and welcoming space. Charlie commented “…we are pretty much in here all day…in the summer we can have the doors open and live both inside and out and feel like it’s one space.” Clare and Charlie love living in their home and Clare commented “I think natural light is so important in general…even on a cloudy day, in here, it’s still bright.”
A bloggers dream renovation in London
Emily Canham, a popular You Tuber and blogger spent over two years renovating her Victorian Terrace in London. The house is almost unrecognisable as Emily chose to add a single-story extension, re-design the loft conversion, add a new roof as well as a new bathroom, ensuite and kitchen. Working closely with her architect Emily had a clear vision to add as much natural light to the house as possible which led to her choosing nine Roof Maker rooflights. She chose a mixture of fixed and opening rooflights to maximise the light and add additional ventilation in certain rooms.
Emily did a lot of research into rooflights, looking on websites, Instagram, asking friends for recommendations and she discovered Roof Maker through her research. Choosing black frames gave her the aesthetic she wanted, “I didn’t want anything white looking or plasticky in my house. They (The Roof Maker rooflights) are so sleek and stunning. They are in the roof now and look amazing.”
Roof Maker’s range includes premium rooflights designed and manufactured in-house. This means they can be made to bespoke sizes and customised to your customers’ specifications.
